Setting Apart

Abigail Katie Miller, in the name of Jesus Christ and by the authority of the holy Melchizedek Priesthood which we hold, we lay our hands upon on your head and set you apart as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, called to labor in the Dominican Republic, Santiago mission and bestow upon you all of the rights, privileges, gifts and powers that you will need to magnify your calling unto the Lord and be a successful missionary.  Sister Miller, this opportunity is a response by you to commitments made before you ever came to the earth.  You have been a valued spirit.  You have faced adversity and trials with faith and determination and your Father in Heaven will be with you as you serve and as you are an ambassador of the Savior, Jesus Christ, having His authority to preach the gospel and to bring souls to Christ.  We bless you as you do so that you will know that He is with you, that He loves you and that He will sustain you in all that you seek to do.  We bless you that as you learn the Spanish language that you will have your mind open, that those beyond the veil will help you and coach you even as you sleep to be able to learn the language.  Be patient with yourself and know that you will master the language and you will have the ability to speak it and to communicate with people in your mission in ways that will invite the spirit of the Lord and your communication and your ability to carry the spirit of the Lord will be super effective.  Sister Miller, you will be blessed to have wonderful companions, you will also be blessed to have companions that may be difficult, that may be relying on you for significant strength.  You have such strength and your Mission President will be responsive to direction in the Doctrine and Covenants to put weak missionaries with the strong that they may be strengthened.  That may be a challenge to you at times and we bless you that in that challenge you will see the wonderful opportunity to blessing not only your companion but still being able to do the missionary work that is necessary.  The Lord will prosper you and make you effective, despite the fact that you may have that challenge.  You will also be paired with missionaries that will be vibrant and energetic and you will have a wonderful experience as you work with them and join your faith with theirs.  In either case, Sister Miller, we bless you that you always retain a commitment to stay positive, to stay uplifting, to avoid any contention and as you do so the spirit of the Lord will be unrestrained, in blessing you and helping you to find those that are seeking the truth and you will be able to bless their lives as you preach the gospel to them.  We bless you as you study the scriptures that you will have the insights and the revelation that you desire.  The Lord will speak to you and He will bring concepts and precepts to your mind.  He will also help you to put them together in ways that will make you powerful in preaching the gospel.  It will be a foundation that will serve you your whole life, a foundation in the gospel of Jesus Christ where you can know in great detail how the plan of salvation works and how things fit together and with all of that knowledge you will still be able to teach with simplicity the principles of the gospel that will be most helpful in allowing your investigators to understand that the wonderful precepts of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  We bless you as you communicate home with this wonderful family that you will draw strength from them and will also be able to share experiences that will bless their lives.  They will be praying for you on a daily basis and you will feel their strength.  You will feel the great blessing it is to have them squarely in you corner and bless you that you will follow your brothers advise to not worry about them.  The Lord has them and knows them and will bless them.  You focus where you need to focus and the Lord will take care of them and they will be praying for you.  Now Sister Miller, we bless you that you will know that the Lord is going before you, even now, there are those in the Dominican Republic that are being prepared for Sister Abby Miller, to show up on their street or on their doorstep or be seen on a bus or in some other place and they will recognize you.  This is a people that feel and know, and have dreams and visions and they will see you and they will know you and they will respond to you because the Lord will have prepared them.  They have family members beyond the veil who are anxious for them to embrace the gospel.  Those family members are among the angels that will prepare them to receive you and to receive the message of salvation.  As you witness these things, as you see these miracles occur and return home each night having done your very best, and kneel at your bedside, and thank your Father in Heaven for the opportunity to be involved in His work.  He is so mindful of you.  He is so proud of you and He will help you every step of the way, even on bad days.  Now we bless you that you will have safety through the course of your mission, that you will be protected, that you will have the very ministering of angels to guard you, to guide you and to help you.  The only prerequisite to this is your obedience and because of your heart that will not be an obstacle.  Be obedient, follow your Mission President, follow his wife, their example, their direction, their council, and their policies and as you do so you will qualify for every promised blessing.  We also bless you that you will be free from any physical, mental, emotional or spiritual illness through the course of your mission and that you will be strong and able every day of your mission to accomplish the work and do what the Lord would have you do.  We bless you that in opportunities that will come to you to lead in the mission that you will take advantage of those.  That your testimony, your obedience, your love for your fellow missionaries will put in a position to council with them, to draw out the best from them, that your example and the way that you carry yourself and teach them will be a motivation to them and will lift them to greater heights of service as you lead in the mission field for you will have that opportunity as well.  Now we give you this blessing and express love and appreciation to you and for you and will remind you that your Heavenly Father, and your father, are so deeply aware of you, they will bless you and will be mindful of you and will help you in all that you do as you turn to your Savior, Jesus Christ.  As you exercise your faith in Him, you will be unstoppable in the work of salvation as you move forward and you will have a great and exhilarating experience as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and we pronounce this blessing upon you and do so in the sacred name of Jesus Christ, amen.
