Week 10
Heyyy!!! Im loving life here in the DR! SO MUCH FUN!!!! this week was crazyyy!!!
This week we had exchanges! On Friday morning the Hermana leaders came to our apartment and picked me up and I said bye to my companion for 24 hours! The hermana leaders are a threesome so it was me, Hermana Dominguez, and Hermana Torrez. We headed to their apartment in a different area of Santiago but it was only about 20 minutes from my area. We had lunch (Hermana Torrez can COOK!!!) we did companion study, then headed out for the day! Their area was popey (rich) haha! It was beautiful, flowers everywhere!! But the people weren't as friendly. But we got ice cream from BON for dinner and it was good but not as good as my mom and grandpa's homemade ice cream!! The next day I headed back home and I missed my companion! I love my area so much and my comp so much!
We have been speaking only Spanish in the streets and I think it's been helping me a ton! Shoutout to Boomer for the great idea!!
FELIZ AÑO NUEVO!!!
We were allowed to stay up till midnight, but we had to be home by 8:00! So we get home at 8 and we finish up our phone lessons and we got to call home for an hour!! After that it's about 10 and we decided for dinner we wanted to order food. We tried Uber eats and all the delivery food places near us, BUT NOBODY WAS WORKING!!!! even Uber eats was closed! So we had no food in our apartment and didn't know what to do! We texted one of the members in our ward and they went and bought us food, what a champ! But we stayed up and watched the fireworks and they are so amazing here! We watched them off our balcony and it was so beautiful!
Right in fron of our apartment a teenage boy, about 15 grabbed an empty alcohol bottle and but a firework in it and lit it off, it somehow dodged all the electric wires and exploded right about our apartment, it was awesome! Then we stayed up and talked until 2 am, let's just say the next morning was rough...
MAISON GOT BAPTIZED, by a miracle!
I've been told, on days of baptisms, something always goes wrong. Well that's so true...
On Saturday night, we headed over to Maisons house to remind him about his baptism in the morning, he was so excited! And then we headed home. The next morning, his baptism was at 8 AM. we headed to pick up Maison, his mom, and all his friends to take them to the church! We knocked on Maisons door and nobody would answer, finally after 5 minutes of knocked his mom comes to the door in her pajamas. She told us Maison was up until 2am so he wouldn't be able to be baptized today, and we told her that we already planned everything, and made him a cake. That somehow changed her mind so she let us in their home and she got us some chairs to sit on. Then... she said that she forgot to tell Maisons dad he was getting baptized, so then she said we couldn't do it. But somehow after talking to her, she changed her mind again and she woke up Maison! He opened his eyes and saw us and jumped on the bed, SO EXCITED!!! He started getting ready and his mom was like, he doesn't have nice enough clothes. But we said he can wear anything! So he threw on his batman shirt and his jean shorts! But then... his mom said she needed to iron his shorts so she spent like 5 minutes ironing his shorts, then he was ready to go! We left with maison to go wake up all his friends for his baptism while his mom got ready. All his friends were sick, so they didn't come but Maison was determined to still be baptized! After about 30 minutes of waiting for his mom to get ready we headed to the church, by the time we get to the church it's 8:30. The members at the church told us there wasn't enough time now, so we will just have to do it next week, but we thought that was kinda dumb, so we just changed the baptism for after church. His mom, who's not a member, patiently waiting for 2 hours, then we had his baptism and it was so awesome! He was sparking after and his mom looked so proud!!!! I was able to be a witness, it was so awesome and I'm so proud of him!!!
Spiritual thought
I was reading in 3 Nephi 27: 14 and this blew my mind! It said,
14 And my Father sent me that I might be lifted up upon the cross; and after that I had been lifted up upon the cross, that I might draw all men unto me, that as I have been lifted up by men even so should men be lifted up by the Father, to stand before me, to be judged of their works, whether they be good or whether they be evil
The part...
️that as I have been lifted up by men even so should men be lifted up by the Father
This blew my mind as I read it!
Reread that. And just think.
So cool.
