Week 11

Hola!!! 
Another week as a missionary! What is this, week 11? CRAZY!!!!


I feel like the Spanish is slowly coming, but its coming! I understand so much about what we are talking to people about! 


This week I went to Santo Domingo to do my residency, so it was like a 3 hour bus ride! It was a fun road trip! But my favorite part was driving through this country, it is SO BEAUTIFUL!!!! It was a little bit foggy that morning and when we the sun started to rise it was foggy and we were surrounded by green mountains and trees. It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my whole life. 


OLIVER WAS BAPTIZED!!! WAHOOOO
I can't even explain how much I love Oliver! He's the cutest little boy EVER! It's a miracle that he got baptized. His mom, she lives in a different part of the Dominican Republic, and Oliver lives with his Grandparents. But we had to get permission from his mom to be baptized. The missionaries have asked her for around 3 months if he could be baptized and everytime she says no, but last week, she said yes, i dont know why of how but she had a change of heart!!! Anyway, we planned his baptism to be on Saturday night. We visited him on Friday night to remind him about his baptism the next day and he was so excited and we were confident he would remember! 
Saturday night comes, we get to the church and set everything up. Then we get a text from Franklin. (Franklin is Oliver's neighbor and is going to baptize him.) Franklin tells us that Oliver went to the Campo with his Grandpa that morning and they were supposed to be back by lunch time but it was 6 and they still weren't home. Long story short we had to cancel the baptism, but we rescheduled it for Sunday after church! 
After church so many ward members came to support him and he was baptized. It was beautiful. I've never seen someone that happy. 


Fast Sunday
We had fast Sunday this week. I saw so many miracles. It was raining on Sunday morning. And when it rains nobody leaves their house, they are scared of getting sick haha. But we got to church and the church was so full!!! And had so many new friends show up to church!!! Throughout Sacrament meeting, they just kept walking in! It was such a miracle they came!!!

Heyyy!!! Im loving life here in the DR! SO MUCH FUN!!!! this week was crazyyy!!!  This week we had exchanges! On Friday morning the Hermana leaders came to our apartment and picked me up and I said bye to my companion for 24 hours! The hermana leaders are a threesome so it was me, Hermana Dominguez, and Hermana Torrez. We headed to their apartment in a different area of Santiago but it was only about 20 minutes from my area. We had lunch (Hermana Torrez can COOK!!!) we did companion study, then headed out for the day! Their area was popey (rich) haha! It was beautiful, flowers everywhere!! But the people weren't as friendly. But we got ice cream from BON for dinner and it was good but not as good as my mom and grandpa's homemade ice cream!! The next day I headed back home and I missed my companion! I love my area so much and my comp so much!  We have been speaking only Spanish in the streets and I think it's been helping me a ton! Hola hola cómo están? Hey hey how's everyone doing? I hope you are all doing so so good and I just want you to all know I miss you so much! This week was so speedy!  And not anything really special happened. It definitely was a little bit of a harder week but with God anythings possible. But I saw a few wonderful miracles. Uur friend Jenny. She told us she wanted to go to church but she only had money to get to church, not to get back home. But she took a step of faith and God worked out the rest of the details like He always does.  We had zone conference and it was so so good. The thing that stuck most with me was becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ, not just a missionary. We also talked about keeping the end in mind as missionaries and our goal as missionaries is to baptize people who are converted to Jesus Christ. It was a really good conference. Week 9

HEY EVERYONE!!!! Hows everyone doing?? On December 12th I got to the DR! It was a long day of travel but we made it! We flew from Mexico to Florida then from Florida to the DR! We got on our second flight to Santiago and the plane was full of natives. I tried to talk to this cute old man sitting next to me but I swear he wasn't speaking Spanish hahaha. That's when I knew I was in for a wild ride.  We got to Santiago and went to President Bretóns house! We spent the night there and in the morning they had a Dominican breakfast ready for us! It was really good! Then we headed to the mission office and had orientation. Then we got to meet our companions! My comp is so awesome! Her name is Hermana Lowry! She's been out in the field for almost 16 months! She's an incredible missionary and I love her!! We headed to our area and I'm in Bella Vista!  The people here are so awesome!  We mostly teach kids and women! The kids absolutely love to hear the gospel!  Since I'm ...
