Week 31

Hola holaaaa
Guess what, this week I didn't actually hate spanish! I feel like I can finally kind of speak and get my point across, still can't understand these Dominicans with their crazy island slang but we are learning more everyday!!!

I saw soooo many miracles this week, I saw God's hand so many times.

Ok the first miracle, our friend Michel, she had a baptism date for this Saturday, we have been trying to teach her for a whole week but she hasn't been home and her phone hasn't had internet. We hadn't been in contact with her for almost a week, it was Wednesday and her interview for her baptism was Thursday. I turn to my comp and say "let's pray" so I prayed and after the prayer I said "I have faith" then we looked down at the phone and the message sent and Michel responded. We called her and shared, and she was ready for her interview!!!
The next day we took the longgg 45 minutes walk to her house in the blazing sun, and got to her house and she was asleep!!!! So we did some phone work on her porch for about 5 minutes until she came walking out all ready for her interview!! She started her interview and after, she brought us the phone and the elder said "she's been in teaching for a whole year, I asked her why she wanted to be baptism now, and she told me that you guys touched her heart" I literally melted inside, I know missionaries are sent to a certain area because certain people connect differently, I'm so glad I was able to be apart of her conversion!!
Saturday rolls around and it's time for her baptism, she got to the chapel before us, she was so ready and so excited and looked sooo beautiful!!! There was so much member support it was amazing! Our amazing mission ward leader Frantzy baptized her in her native language Creole, and it was so special. When she came out of the water I'm not even kidding, her smile was so big and she was glowing. I'm proud of her, her baptism took a lot of time, lots of prayers, and lots of miracles, but it finally happened! I wish you could all know Michel, she's the best and I love her with my whole hearttttt!!

I just wanted to assure you guys that I still have a shopping addiction! There are so many vender shops and they sell the cutest dresses for 2 american dollars, let's just say I'm coming home with more dresses than I came out with!

We had interviews this week and oh my gosh it was incredible, President helped me understand so many things and helped answer all my questions! So fun and so refreshing!
At interviews Presidentes wife is there, Hermana Bretón and she has the thickest Dominican accent and talks so fast, even my Mexican comp can't understand her, she asks us a question and we all just smile and pretend we know what she is talking about hahaha.

There was a cheese truck driving past our house and my comp wanted it because she said it tastes like some cheese in Mexico, so we ran to our gate, but it was locked and the cheese truck kept driving, my comp scrambles for money and I scramble for the keys, we run into the street and we aren't wearing our sandals, well it's currently 12 in the afternoon in the DR and our feet are melting so we run back to the house laughing/ crying and all our neighbors are laughing at us lol, but don't worry we secured the cheese!

There was a man who was holding a bucket begging for money, and we can't give money as missionaries so I put a card of Jesus with our information on it and I said "no tenemos dinero pero tenemos Jesus!" or "we don't have money but we have Jesus!" and he held his bucket all the way up reaching to heaven and said "amen!!!"

We met the coolest man, his name is Leonel. We teach some of his friends in his apartment complex but we had never contacted him, well we decided to the other day and he doesn't speak much spanish, but has such a love for God and he came to church on Sunday! He told us the owner of his apartment doesn't like Mormons because she is a Jehovas Witness, so we aren't allowed to teach in his apartment anymore, but we will figure it out cause he's so cool and has the softest heart!!! Everyone keep him in your prayers!!!

My shoes officially have holes throughout the bottom, I'm so grateful for the knowledge I have from my grandpa, that tape can fix anything!!!!

I'm constantly dripping in sweat, it's really fun and I love being sticky all the time! No but for reals I'm melting out here and it's only Mayyy, pray that I don't melt.

God decided to bless us on Sunday cause we had so many friends in church and so many recent converts, it makes the work so rewarding when you can see your work paying off, the work is so joyful, not always fun and so so hard, but so joyfull and fulfilling!!!!!

We have transfers this week! They are changed to Friday, so we find out Wednesday, so excited to find out what's gonna happen!! I'll let you all know next Monday!!

Spiritual thought
The Book of Mormon is so true and it's the keystone of our religion! Teaches us everything we need to know and answers the questions of the soul! I suggest reading it, it's a pretty good book hahaha!
But for real, I know the Book of Mormon is true and the word of God, I love the Book of Mormon! Read something in it this week and tell me all about it, I would love to hear!!!

I love you all, hope you are all living it up, having the best summer ever! Keep me updated and remember to put God first!
