Week 30
Hey heyyy
This week was so fast and I learned a tonnnn!
Highlights
I got to go on a suprise exchange with Hermana Micheli!!!
Before the mission we found each other on social media and saw we were going to the same mission, so we met up and went to lunch, then we flew into the mission together, and now we are in the same zone!! Both of our companions are Mexican and allll the new mexicans this week went to Santo Domingo to get their residency, so Hrm Micheli and I got an exchange. Not to be dramatic or anthing but it was the funnest 24 hours of my life, I'm not even kidding, the work was SO fun and teaching was SO fun! We have the same level of spanish, so when one of us didn't know what to say the other one jumped in to save the day, it was perfect! We just complemented each other really well!
I also got to see a different area of Puerto Plata, and it was SO beautiful, it was more up in the mountains and it was gorgeoussss!!!
Something kinda crazy, at about 4 in the morning, the whole apartment started to shake, I felt like it was going to tip over, we were in an earthquake!! It was a 5.1 i think! It was crazyyy and for like 5 minutes I was just laying in bed thinking the apartment was going to tip over hahaha.
But that was the funnest 24 hours of my life and I haven't laughed that much in weeks, I love you Hermana Micheli!!! Everyone pray, one day we can be comps!!
Hermana Olmos got home and had gripe, so we did a lot of phone work this week, so I got really good at phone calls! hahaha kinda boring but it was all good!
By this time of the week it was Thursday and our goal for finding new people was 20, but we only had 3. The few hours we were out of the house this weekend, we contacted and if you know me I dont love to contact, but now I do, we hit our goal and found 22 new people and I'm so excited to teach all next week!!
Our friend Michel, she is SO cool, she was supposed to be baptized on Saturday, but she was not in her house at allll this week, so we couldnt teach her, but she came to church, her 9th sunday in church! We called her today to talk about baptism and she told us she's scared of the water, aw, but she said she is ready for her baptism this Saturday, so everyone keep Michel in your prayers!!
On Saturday during lunch it POURED and we sat on the porch and just talked, it was SO peaceful and calming, I love the rain here.
This week we offered to help an Hermana clean the church on Saturday at 3. My comp wasnt feeling good, so I said "you can just sit and study and I will help the Hermana clean" well, the Hermana never showed up and I cleaned the church by myself lol, lets just say i was drenched in sweat hahaha but service is SO good!!!
Our friend Modlin, he was supposed to be baptized last Saturday, but he never showed up, we ran into him on Monday and we talked to him. He said he had an emergency and had to go to Santiago on Saturday because his 2 year old daughter who lives in Haiti has cholera, everyone pray for them please!!
Going into the last week of this transfer and I'm so hyped
spiritual thought
This week I feel like everything I studied, ended up turning back to the atonement. Like I was studying how to set goals and somehow I ended up studying about the Atonement of Jesus Christ. We all know Christ died for our sins. Whenever we contact someone I like to ask "who is Jesus Christ to you?" and they always say "he died for my sins" and yes He died for our sins, thanks to Him and only through Him are we able to live with God. He broke the bands of death. Because of Adam and Eve and their transgression, we are here, when they lived in the Garden of Eden they were in the presence of God, no sadness, no grief, no trials, no heartache, but also no joy and happiness because they didnt know the bad. In 2 Nephi 2:11-13 it explains that everything has an opposite. Thanks to Adam and Eve and their choice to sin, we were all brought to earth. We can feel joy, happiness, peace, but we are also going to experience pain and hurt, trials and sorrow. I learned this week that Christ died for my sins in the Garden of Gethsemane, but He also died for me and experienced all the hurt I would ever feel, just so I won't feel alone during my trials. I know that when we are struggling and going through the hard times and even the good times, we can turn to Christ. He is always there. He knows all things, and He is the only one who knows how to help us. I know He loves each and everyone one of you individually and He wants you to reach out, His arm is always extended, so reach out and grab His hand and He will help you.
I love you all soooo much, keep me updated, I love hearing for all of you!! Have the best week, hablamos!! Remember to put God first!!
