Week 32

It was transfers!!! I'm staying in Puerto Plata with my new comp Hermana Brito! She's from Santo Domingo and I'm excited for the next six weeks to learn from her and grow with her!!


This week was work work work!!
So so good!!
We have a couple of great friends progressing!!


1. Miguel
He is on date to be baptized on the 24th of June! He is so amazing and loves church and loves God so much! Everyone keep him in your prayers!


2. Raele 
My bestie!! He's a nine year old boy and has the most faith I've ever seen!! He's on date for the 17th! We have a fun little handshake and everytime I see him he gives me the biggest hug and then we do our handshake! 
He's one of the biggest examples of Christlike love. He loves everyone, everybody he meets, it doesn't matter who they are or what they are like, he just loves everyone as Jesus would!


3. Samuel 
He's the coolest person I've ever met. He's a tigre but a soft tigre! (a tigre is kind of like a gangster) he's 20 and has been to church 21 times, but doesn't want to be baptized:( He hasn't come to church for the past 7 weeks but on Friday he promised me he would be there and we walk into the chapel, and there he was with his cornrows! 
Everybody keep him in your prayers please! 


Fun story
Last night it's 10:30, I'm turning off the lights and my comp is plugging in the fan behind her bed and then I hear a bloody murder scream, I come running to the room and a spider, I'm not even exaggerating, the size of my face starts running up the wall. Holy guacamole I've never been more scared in my entire life. I hate little spiders, but that thing wasn't a spider it was a monster. My comp and I were standing in the hallway contemplating what to do for about 20 minutes then my comp suggested that we throw shoes at it. It's up in the top corner of the wall in the room and we quickly go into the room, jump on the beds and start throwing shoes, we missed a few times but then my comp hit it and it was stuck under a shoe. We continued to throw more shoes but it was still alive, until we grabbed my big rain boots then we smacked that baby and bam, it died. Everyone in this country makes fun of my rain boots but hey they saved my life last night! We need to apologize to all of our neighbors for our loud screams for half an hour at 10:30 hahaha, quite the adventure!!


Spiritual 
In my personal study I found a scripture and it brought me a lot of comfort. 


Alma 34:18
"Yea, cry unto Him for mercy; for He is mighty to save."


Sometimes in life we feel really lonely, like we have no friends, nobody to listen, we feel unseen. But Christ is there, always. We can always rely on His atonement. He loves us no matter what, He's our friend and He listens. He knows the struggles we go through. He is always there for us. 
I know Christ is always there. For you and me. For all of us. I know He died for us, not just for our sins, but for our struggles and trials so we don't feel so alone, we can turn to Him because He knows. He is merciful and can save us from the dark.

Heyyy!!! Im loving life here in the DR! SO MUCH FUN!!!! this week was crazyyy!!!  This week we had exchanges! On Friday morning the Hermana leaders came to our apartment and picked me up and I said bye to my companion for 24 hours! The hermana leaders are a threesome so it was me, Hermana Dominguez, and Hermana Torrez. We headed to their apartment in a different area of Santiago but it was only about 20 minutes from my area. We had lunch (Hermana Torrez can COOK!!!) we did companion study, then headed out for the day! Their area was popey (rich) haha! It was beautiful, flowers everywhere!! But the people weren't as friendly. But we got ice cream from BON for dinner and it was good but not as good as my mom and grandpa's homemade ice cream!! The next day I headed back home and I missed my companion! I love my area so much and my comp so much!  We have been speaking only Spanish in the streets and I think it's been helping me a ton! Hola hola cómo están? Hey hey how's everyone doing? I hope you are all doing so so good and I just want you to all know I miss you so much! This week was so speedy!  And not anything really special happened. It definitely was a little bit of a harder week but with God anythings possible. But I saw a few wonderful miracles. Uur friend Jenny. She told us she wanted to go to church but she only had money to get to church, not to get back home. But she took a step of faith and God worked out the rest of the details like He always does.  We had zone conference and it was so so good. The thing that stuck most with me was becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ, not just a missionary. We also talked about keeping the end in mind as missionaries and our goal as missionaries is to baptize people who are converted to Jesus Christ. It was a really good conference. Week 9

HEY EVERYONE!!!! Hows everyone doing?? On December 12th I got to the DR! It was a long day of travel but we made it! We flew from Mexico to Florida then from Florida to the DR! We got on our second flight to Santiago and the plane was full of natives. I tried to talk to this cute old man sitting next to me but I swear he wasn't speaking Spanish hahaha. That's when I knew I was in for a wild ride.  We got to Santiago and went to President Bretóns house! We spent the night there and in the morning they had a Dominican breakfast ready for us! It was really good! Then we headed to the mission office and had orientation. Then we got to meet our companions! My comp is so awesome! Her name is Hermana Lowry! She's been out in the field for almost 16 months! She's an incredible missionary and I love her!! We headed to our area and I'm in Bella Vista!  The people here are so awesome!  We mostly teach kids and women! The kids absolutely love to hear the gospel!  Since I'm ...
