Week 43

klk a todos! espero que estén bien!
This week was a week of work but also lots of fun!

We had the hermanas activity and it was so much fun! All the hermanas from the whole mission met at the mission offices on Wednesday morning! I wasn't sure what to expect but it was lowkey exactly what I expected from the Mission President's wife, Hermana Bretón.
We had lots of lectures about our health. A dentist came and gave us a presentation about dental health and she showed us lots of gross pictures of teeth and talked about brushing our teeth for about 2 hours. hahaha
Hermana Bretón talked about if we are sick just drink some chinola and onion tea and gargle some salt water and we will be all good to go.
Lots of hermanas in the mission are losing hair for some reason, terrifying, but it's happening. So she gave us another home remedy to fix that problem as well. That's what I love about Hermana Bretón.  She is all about the home remedies.
President also spoke.  He spoke about not comparing. Comparing ourselves, our missions, our life's, etc to others because everyone is different and everyone's situation is different and the Lord gives us all different trials and situations because we all learn in different ways, and the Lord knows us perfectly and knows best how to help us reach our divine potential.
It was also so much fun to see all my hermana besties and old comps.

Last week we met this lady in the street. She was just glowing and her name is Jenny. We contacted her and she spoke close to no spanish only creole. We visited her this week and had a lesson over google translate about faith and invited her to chuch. On Sunday morning, we are sitting in the chapel and right before the sacrament our friend Jenny walks in and sits next to us. After the meeting we tried to explain to her that we have another hour of classes. She couldn't understand us so we run over to the elder we share an area with who is from Haiti and we got it all figured out. In this ward we have sunday school in spanish and also creole. So you better believe I went to a class in creole and believe it or not, but I understood a little of what we were talking about, it was so cool. But Jenny participated so much in class and we have following appointments this coming week and I'm so excited to get to know her better!
Not to mention she lives so far from the church but she made the sacrifice to come and I know the Lord is going to bless her so much. The Lord loves sacrifice and he will pour blessings upon us if we give a little of our time to learn of him.

In the DR they don't eat dinner until like 9 but when you are walking in the streets for hours you get hungry before 9, so we take colmado runs. A colmado is like a little gas station without gas and just a few snacks and a fridge. Anyway, the milk here is so weird. You can drink it off the shelf and it lowkey tastes awful. But this week during one of our colmado runs I was craving milk so you better believe I grabbed some milk and now I love the weird milk. hahaha

Not gonna lie this week was a harder week. This area is a little difficult and not many of our friends want to keep commitments so we don't have many people progressing. But I know the Lord is preparing people for us and I am so excited to meet them! During hard times in the mission and in normal life, we just have to keep an eye of faith and trust in His plan.

The mission got new big pillows so now I have 2 pillows and I've honestly never been happier.

One lady we contacted had aloe vera growing in her front yard and my comp asked if we could have some and she said "of course" so my skin is glowing thanks to the aloe vera lady.

Oh my gosh on Sunday night we went to visit this old couple, Veijito's, because their health isn't the best and they haven't been to church. But Brother Beltre made lunch earlier for him and his wife before we went over and he wanted us to try a little. So we walk to the kitchen with him and he grabs a spoon, scoops up some rice and HE FED ME!!!! It threw me back to my childhood when my mom fed me with the airplane. I seriously was laughing so hard I started to choke on the rice. I love the Beltre couple with my whole heart.

Apparently hurricane franklin is on its way to the DR so hopefully that means it won't be so hot this week with all the rain, either that or it's going to be horribly humid! Anyway I love rainstorms so I'm excited! We aren't allowed to leave the apartment Wednesday so I'll update you all next week!

Oh also we have transfers this week so that's hyped.

spiritual thought
This week we passed the most beautiful flower on the street and it was huge and open and so beautiful. I decided to pick it. When we got home that night I put it on my desk and I was excited to see it when I woke up.
The next day I went to my desk devastated to see my flower all closed up and dead looking. I thought to myself, what happened? I'm no florist but I came to the conclusion it's because it wasn't receiving the essential nutrients from its natural source, the flower bush.

2 nephi 31:20
"Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life."
3 nephi 15:9
Christ says, "Behold, I am the law, and the light. Look unto me, and endure to the end, and ye shall live; for unto him that endureth to the end will I give eternal life."
3 nephi 11: 11
"And behold, I am the light and the life of the world"

Jesus Christ is the "light and the life of the world" if we separate ourselves from Him, we will start to die spiritually, spiritually separating us from His light. I have seen so many people fall away from Christ and not have Him as their rock. They put worldly things above Him and eventually they become like the flower, removing themselves from the nourishment and are spiritually dead.
This world is becoming more evil everyday. We must press forward always, keeping ourselves spiritually nourished with Christ as our rock and foundation.
I know that Jesus Christ is the light and when we have our foundation built on Him we will never fall.
