Week 44

weyyy! cómo están?

This week was so good.
It was hot, we worked hard, we laughed, we found some really golden people.

There was a hurricane on Wednesday so we weren't allowed to leave, so we stayed at home and did phone work. And big shout out to the covid missionaries, I don't know how they did it but they were built different.
Anyway, I was expecting a huge wind storm and tons of rain but it literally was only cloudy and rained for about 5 minutes hahaha.

During the storm we did lots of phone calls and we taught our friend, Gabriel Melkezedek, and he accepted a baptism date!!! He's on date for the 30th of September. He has such a desire to be baptized and follow God but he has work on Sunday mornings, he told us he's going to try to find a new job, so everyone please keep him in your prayers!
The elders also had a baptism this week and he came! And he told us that he loved it!!
And isn't his name literally so cool!??

We had transfers this week and we stayed together! Kind of awesome!! I'm so excited to improve this area and work with the members in this ward!!!

I've actually been cold even though its 90 degrees here and 70% humidity. I think I might die when I get home.

One of our friends Claribel is progressing so much and she wanted a Book of Mormon, so we grabbed the last one in our house and took it over to her. She was smiling so big when she opened the door. Everyone pray that she gets a spiritual confirmation from this great book of scripture.

We lost light on Wednesday night and didn't get it back till Saturday night, let's just say it was a rough few days with no food hahaha but hey, that's what you get for living in the DR!!!

We have some recent converts from Africa and they don't speak spanish, only english and they can't understand anything in church and they never have. Recently they haven't been coming to church and we finally figured out the puzzle. It's because they can't understand anything. I thought back to my first few months here, Sundays in church were rough because you can't understand anything and just feel lost. While we were teaching them on Friday, the words just slipped out of my mouth, "I can translate" I didn't try to say that cause I didnt know if my spanish abilities were there yet, but i had faith... well they came on Sunday, and we all sat in the back and dang these dominicans speak faster than i can even think but hey, God put the words in my mouth and really pulled through on that one!

We saw the cutest puppies in the whole world, I just want to hug my doggy champ!!!

They sell salchichas on a stick, it's like a corn dog without a bun and goodness gracias they are heavenly.

My shoes officially have holes in them.  We were walking at 11am to some of our friends houses and I noticed my feet were buring cause the road is so hot, time for my new shoes!!!

i had some crazy dreams this week. My favorite one was that alligators were chasing me through our house.

Sunday night here was crazy, not sure if it was a holiday but literally every person we passed was sooo drunk and smoking marajuana but a few funny thinks got yelled at me, like "will you marry me" or "give me a visa!!!" or my favorite was the drunk guy dancing and he asked me to come dance with him. It was a crazy night.

spiritual
I started a new challenge, I want to finish the Book of Mormon before the new year. 4 months is reasonable! I want to invite all of you to do it with me! And send me your thoughts as you read it!
Everytime I read the Book of Mormon something new stands out to me. I was reading in 1 Nephi 15: 11
It says " Do ye not remember the things which the Lord hath said?—If ye will not harden your hearts, and ask me in faith, believing that ye shall receive, with diligence in keeping my commandments, surely these things shall be made known unto you."
I love how it says
"SURELY these things shall be made known unto you"
It's a promise that if we open our hearts, talk to God and have faith in Him and try our best to keep His commandments He will give us all the treasures of the world.

I love you all and have the best week ever! Remember to always put God first.
