Week 50
Hey everyone! How are you doing?
This week we had transfers so it was a little bit crazy! My cute comp Hrmn Ramirez went to Licey, I will forever miss her, we became best friends throughout our 10 weeks together.
But this week I recieved Hrmn Mejía! She is from the capital so I'm back to a Domincan comp and I'm so excited for this next transfer, I can just tell we are going to have a lot of fun.
I've officially become best friends with the hrmns we share a house with. Hrmn Cox is my best friend and I'm so grateful for the mission and for all the lifelong friends I am making.
We had some amazing lessons this week. We read 3 Nephi 11 with a few friends and the spirit was incredibly strong, there is not a better feeling than the spirit filling the entire room.
It was October 3rd this week and in tribute of the movie "mean girls" our whole house wore pink.
The Lord cancels our plans because His plans are always better.
I truly have the strongest testimony of God's plan, His plan is always better.
This week I witnessed the biggest miracle of this. We headed to a lesson, and they sadly weren't there. We decided to go find another friend but she lived far away and we had to take a pitch black road to get there. We didn't feel safe so we took another road. We walked past this mansion and the door was closed, but I felt the biggest prompting to knock on their giant gate. We knocked, and yelled, and right when we were about ready to leave someone walked out. She told us that she was the maid and she was going to ask the owner of her house if we could come in. She went and asked and the owner said no and told her we were not allowed to come on her property, so she left her property to come to talk to us. She had met with missionaries before and lost contact with them. I felt prompted to ask her if she had a Book of Mormon and she said she did but it got destroyed and somehow by a miracle we had a Book of Mormon in our bag. (if you read my email last week, there is a Book of Mormon shortage out in the DR) but by a miracle we had one and we were able to give it to her.
God works in miracles and is a God of miracles. I have the strongest testimony of this.
My comps suitcase broke so I carried a 70 pound suitcase through the parking lot. I guess lifting weights before the mission paid off.
Spiritual Thought
I can't explain how much I love the scriptures. They bring me so much peace. A scripture that brought me peace this week
Alma 17: 10
"and it came to pass that the Lord did visit them with his Spirit, and said unto them: Be comforted. And they were comforted."
Something I have learned while reading through the chapters of Alma is that God is all powerful. There are so many examples of the wicked being destroyed and punished for their bad choices but this verse... this is more powerful than God destroying a nation for their wickedness.
Alma and the sons of Mosiah were traveling through the wilderness. They were going through trial after trial. Physical, spiritual, and mental but the spirit of God visited them and comforted them.
God can comfort us in our times of trials, in our weaknesses, our struggles. God is above all things but He decended below all things and can heal even the deepest wounds. He can bring us comfort.
Another scripture I want to share with everyone
Alma 12: 3
"or thou hast not lied unto men only but thou hast lied unto God; for behold, he knows all thy thoughts"
Daily repentance is necessary! We all make mistakes every day. Nobody is perfect and we never will be. But Christ gave the commandment "be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."
We can become a little better every day by daily change and daily repentance.
Remember God loves you and to put Him first because He always puts you first
