Week 56
Heyyy what's up?
We has transfers this week so it was a little bit crazy.
So I'm out of Villa Olga and onto Jarabacoa.
I ended up loving Villa Olga even though it was a very hard area, it will forever forever forever have a place in my heart.
But hey the mission is all about changing.
So onto Jarabacoa. It's an area in the mountains and so far I LOVE IT
It's beautiful.
The air is fresh.
The people are so humble and willing to listen.
I'M SO EXCITED
The people here say that is snows, (they mean there is dew on the grass in the morning) but HEY I'll take it!!! To be honest I miss this snow and the cold so much and I just know God sent me here because it's the closet to snow I can get.
I literally wore a sweater to church on Sunday because it was a brisk 70°
It was awesome
Anywayssss I will stop talking about the weather haha
On Thursday my last night in Villa Olga there was a conference for all the recent converts who have been baptized in the last three years in Santiago and it was in our chapel! Our recent converts pulled through and we had 7 there!!! It was so incredible to hear the 2 members of the 70 speak to them. And the spirit was so special and I don't have words to explain it but the spirit of a recent convert is different. It's new, it's fresh. The spirit there was something I've never felt.
I was so so sad to say bye to all my Villa Olga besties and members but I will be coming back to visit them because I adore them with my entire heart!!!
Friday came and after Hermana Cox repacked my bags and I was basically jumping to make everything fit, I only left the house with 3 suitcases packed full, a huge backpack, a plant, and 2 garbage bags full of things. But hey! We did it hahaha
I'm not sure how but I just keep collecting things out here.
Since I was traveling farrr away from Santiago, we took 2 buses to get to my new area in Jarabacoa. We didn't get there until 9 and let me tell you it was a pain and a struggle to travel with all that.
Saturday was my first day here and good golly do I just love it. The area is beautiful and there are so so so many callejones, it reminds me of my first area Bella Vista and ugh I'm just so happy.
The people are all so humble and willing to listen. My first day we found 6 new people who were so excited to talk to us and to learn more about the gosepl. The work is going to fly and I'm so excited.
My new comp is Hermana Paul, she is 26 and she is from Haiti! She's seriously so cool and I'm excited to get to know her better!!
The chapel here is absolutely tiny and there was only about 30 people at church and 6 of them were missionaries.
A member in our ward is American but he married a Dominican and he literally speaks like a native. But they made us lasagna and DANG do I miss my mom's lasagna!!!! Funnest member meal of my life.
He also told us he is making us Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday so that is LIT
Spiritual
I've been studying about the Book of Mormon and I was reading the testimonies of the 3 witnesses, the 8 and the testimony of Joseph Smith at the front of the Book of Mormon. and these testimonies are crucial and can truly help us to gain our own personal testimony.
But what is a testimony?
It's a knowledge and a spiritual witness given by the holy ghost.
We can help others gain a testimony of the fullness of the gospel and of the Book of Mormon when we share our own personal testimony. Even if your testimony is tiny, sharing it can change someone's life and in the process it will help to grow yours!
I'm not sure but there was a general conference talk and someone said "never give up an opportunity to testify about Christ"
This gospel makes you happy right? Share with others the things that make you happy!!
2 Timothy 1:8
"be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;"
go change someone's life! :)
Have the greatest week ever and eat lots of turkey, stuffing, pie, green beans, potatoes and the most important, my mom's incredible homemade rolls for me! :)
I love you all and miss you so much, send me a message, I would love to hear from you! Remember to put God first <3
