Week 70

what a great week full of unexpected calls from the asistance.

The work is going good here in Los Jardines! Keep our friends in your prayers please. We have found some amazing friends who have had the faith to come to church. Pray they can take the next step in being baptized.

Let me tell you about our boy gang
Sebastian, bibi, royer, and kelvin. They are THE greatest. A group of 10 year old boys who want to follow Jesus. Our lessons with them are full of question and the spirit. We love our boy gang.

It was a crazy week. On Tuesday Hermana Lewis left us to be with another hermana until Thurday and then on Friday left to Santo Domingo to get her residency. So basically that left me and Guilmaume to work together in the new area alone. We got lost a few times but we found our way around. We also were in a trío with Hermana Velasquez (on of my favorite people ever) on Friday. She's from Honduras and taught us lots of fun hondurian words.

If I had to explain the DR in one story, it's like this.
We were on our way home from a lesson in the morning. We had to walk over this wooden bridge to get home. Under the bridge runs a river of trash. This old lady was behind us following us with her hands full of garbage and we were walking and talking with her. We got to the bridge and she stopped right in the middle and threw ALL of her garbage over the bridge into the river. All of our jaws dropped.
So apparently that's completely normal, to just throw your trash in the river. That could explain why all the river water here is black and bubbly hahaha. We love to cross garbage river.

We had zone conference. Let's just say, we got wrecked and he gave us a boche.
But there was some beautiful things I learned.
President talked a lot about obedience and submitting to Gods will. Being obedient and humbly following the commandments and the rules in the mission. When we are willing to submit to being obedient, when we are obedient that is when the atonement is fully usable in our lives.
It was so fun to see all my mission friends though!!

We had the most spiritual member lunch on Sunday. We shared a message with them about Christ and the power He has. The power He has to heal us.
We all went around the table and bore testimony of Christ. The spirit was so strong. Then the members shared their testimony of Christ and how grateful they are for the missionaries. They expressed their gratitude for the sacrifice we make as missionaries. You better believe I burst into tears. It was so comforting to hear some words of encouragment.
I'm so so grateful for the work. Although it is an exhausting and hard work, it is moments like these that make life and the mission so special and so worth it.

Birthday shoutout to my little bro!!
15 whatttt???
When I left he was 13! Everyone go wish him the happiest day and give him a giant hug for me. And watch out on the roads!
I'm over here in the DR praying he doesn't pass his permit test so you guys can be safe on the roads haha
Seriously so so grateful for him, make his day greattt

Spiritual thought
I have been studying the talk
One in Christ by Elder D Todd Christofferson

He explains what being one in Christ truly means and how we can get there. A few scriptures he shared kept a place in my mind.

 Galatians 3: 26- 28
"For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus"

Hebrews 4:15
"For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin"

A covenant relationship with Christ means becoming one with him. Everything he wants, you want. All that he doesn't want you to do, you strive to stay away from. It means becoming unified with Him having the same purpose as Him.
I loved the verse in Hebrews 4:15. It explains that Christ was tempted with all the things that we are tempted but he never yielded to the temptations. He never sinned. He knows exactly how it feels to be tempted, and He overcame it. Therefore He knows exactly how to help us overcome these temptations. As we repent and turn unto Him with a full purpose of heart, trusting in Him, we can be perfected with Him and become unified in heart and in mind.

I love you all SO much!!!
Have such a fabulous week and remember to put God first and become unified with Christ!
