Week 71
klk a todos mis manitos
I literally am so grateful for you all and for all of your support and for the support the last while I have been out here in the DR!
So it's officially March! So crazy it's already here but it's my favorite month and I'm so excited I get to be here in the DR for one last March! I officially will be home next month! So crazy, time is just flying.
I just want to express my gratitude for this country I've been able to serve in the past 16 months and the people I have been able to serve and those I serve with.
They have all left a mark on my heart
This week has been so good. So fun. So fast. So joyful.
Let's start off with the first highlight.
I came to the DR with a few bucket list goals and I completed one this week.
I met a professional baseball player. He pitched for the dodgers. His name is Jackson Mateo. Also got his signature on an agenda paper #score
We did service for the bishops wife this week. We showed up with 6 hands ready to help. She handed me a broom and pointed at the front yard. It was coverd in leaves. She wanted me to gather them in a pile and throw them away. Totally normal right?
Yeah, its normal with a rake. But have you ever done it with a house broom?
If I had to explain the DR in one way it would be that. Welcome to the DR hahaha
My comps one day decided they wanted to see who was taller out of the two of them, so they took off their shoes and measured in the middle of the street lol
I learned lots of Domincan slang this week.
Our friend José Alberto gave us flowers.
The pacas here, or in other words, thrift shopping here is another level. I found a lululemon jacket for 6$ ya tu sabe
I'm officially 21, I feel so old
We have been visiting our friend named María. We were teaching about praying and reading the scriptures and she told us "I've never had my own scriptures before"
We didn't think that we put a Book of Mormon in our bag before we left the house so we told her we would bring her her very own the next time we passed by her house. Then, hermana Lewis opened her bag and magically by a miracle there was a Book of Mormon.
We gave it to María and I've never seen someone be so so excited. Her face was glowing.
Let me tell you about our little boy griddy gang. My best friends.
A group of 5 Boys. Sebastian, Kelvin, Jeison, Royer, Bibi.
A group of boys searching for Jesus. A group of boys full of questions and curiosity.
On Monday night we talked about baptism. They were 110% engaged and intrigued. During our lesson Sebastian threw his hand up to ask a question and then got too nervous to ask it. So he said "I forgot"
It was like we could read his mind so we asked his question back to him and said "Do you want to follow Jesus and be baptized?"
Almost in tears he said "I do!!! I do!!!"
He is so smart and is so determined to follow his Savior.
Baptism will change his life. Please keep him and his Aunt Anna in your prayers, to help soften her heart and to help strengthen him.
One more thing about the boy gang, we each have our own hand shake and then as we leave they walk us down the street. They are always griddy, so we did it with them and they think we are so lit hahaha

I was studying the hymns in spanish for one of my language studies
The hymns are top notch in spanish
I was studying Nearer My God to Thee
But in spanish "Más cerca, Dios, de ti"
A few verses I LOVED with the translation
"Cúbrenme con tu amor y tu bondad
Aun soñaré estar cerca del santo hogar
La senda hallaré que al cielo va
En ella su bondad me sostendrá
Te alabaré
Gozoso volveré a ver tu faz"
Cover me with your love and your kindness
I will still dream of being close to the holy home
I will find the path that goes to heaven
In your kindness you will support me
I will praise you
Joyfully I will see your face again
How beautiful
Remember Christ's grace is sufficient even for our littlest weakenesses. His atonement is infinite but also intimate. Ether 12:27
As we humble ourselves and have faith in Him, he can change our very nature.
I love you alllllll! Send me an email! Have a magical week and go share the gospel. Remember to put God first!
