Week 75
weyyy klk manitos!! les extraño mucho peroooo nos vemos pronto!!
What an amazing week! God loves His children over here in the DR! Let me share with you a few of these loving experiences!
What a special opportunity that I have to share about God's amazing plan during holy week!
Also a time full of habichuelas con dulce, not sure how to feel about those haha
We went to teach him on tuesday but didn't have much time. We just decided to share a scripture. We shared the scripture in Enos 27. We talked about Christ's invitation to come unto Him to partake of the divine gift of eternal life with our Him and our Father in Heaven. We shared about the strong love that God has for him and that God has a mansion prepared for him in heaven.
Fredly is a tough little boy. You rarely see him smile. But when he heard that he has a Father in Heaven who loves him he smiled and said "I like the thought of that!"
Ever since that moment he has been full of light and sunshine and smiles. Christ lights up lives.
We taught our cutie girl Weslande. She bore to us her testimony. She told us ever since the missionaries have started to come and visit her she has seen so many blessings. She told us she first saw them walking down the road and her husband yelled at them and said "are you gringas?" And they ended up setting up a return appointment. The first visit, they had no chairs, so they sat on the floor. Then, they had enough money to buy 2 chairs, for the missionaries. Now they have an entire table and 4 chairs. And Renel, got a visa to go to the states and soon Weslande and her son. She was crying of gratitude for this gospel and the blessings she has recieved that she is just being introduced to. It was such a sweet moment.
We had fast sunday. We had 5 of our hatian friends come. They don't speak much spanish. We asked Guillaume if she could go bear her testimony in creole for them. She marched up there, and bore her testimony in spanish and explained how when she was first investigating the church, she didn't understand anything for the language barrier. Then she bore her testimony in creole, and the spirit rushed in and filled the room. I have never felt the spirit like that before. Even though we couldn't understand the language, the spirit spoke to us.
We were teaching my besties. Hervè, William, and Wenguel. We were teaching them about the plan of salvation. We asked them "how can we get to the celestial kingdom?"
2 of them said by keeping the commandments, by following Jesus, being baptized, being a good neighbor, going to church, praying, reading the scriptures, etc.
Then one of them didn't say anything. He stayed quiet and we asked him what he was thinking. He said, "thats a lot of stuff" looking a little overwhelmed. We explained there is one thing we need to do, follow Jesus. In every moment think "what would Jesus do?" Or it's like the little kids song "if the Savior stood besides me" if He was there what would we do. But the answer is simple and easy to get to the celestial kingdom. Jesus. The answer is always Jesus.
Spiritual thought!! <3
3 nephi 22:7-8
"For a small moment have I forsaken thee, but with great mercies will I gather thee. In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment, but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer."
What a comforting scripture, right?
The Lord is full of mercy. The Lord is full of everlasting kindness.
Sometimes we tend to think, why am I going through this trial? Why is this happening to me? Why did the Lord abandon me?
Something I have learned is He never leaves us. Ever. But sometimes He is less noticable in our lives.
During these times, it's our time of learning, of learning to look for the Lord, learing to rely on Him.
But the comforting and beautiful part of His nature is He comes back. Full of love and mercy.
I'm so grateful for my Savior. I'm grateful He is in every detail. The hard times and the good times. He is the perfect planner and I am so grateful I have been able to be a witness of Him the last 17 months <3
also happy April fools, and watch out!
